Males and Females Can Live Together

I moved into one of the luxury apartments in Jackson MS with a friend of mine that I’ve known for many years. On its own, no one would see anything wrong with this, but when people learn that my roommate is a female, they start to freak out. They bring up points about how one of us will fall for the other one, or how awkward things will be when we bring over members of the opposite sex. One person even mentioned that my roommate would be walking around naked in front of me, as if I wasn’t there at all.

I don’t know what kinds of crazy stories people have heard to make them say such things, but my roommate and I have been living together just fine. We both have our own separate rooms, so even if we do bring any company over for some alone time, neither of us really has to know or care. We have boundaries about what goes on in the apartment, so there will be no nudity outside of the bathrooms or our rooms. We also have no romantic interest in each other whatsoever, so the chances of us falling for each other are unlikely. Even if we did, we’re both adults who can handle something like that.

There is one thing that I don’t like, and that’s my roommate’s peanut allergy. Because of this, I have to be careful when I eat anything with nuts or prepare any food. I wash the knives separately when I make a peanut butter sandwich, and I’m careful about any chocolate products that I may buy because they could be made in the same factory as something with peanuts. Other than that, living in the lap of luxury with my close friend has been nothing but bliss.
